Update on: And - bald.

UPDATE:

'smooth like a baby's bum by midnight' is what I thought I'd end up like. Instead, it came out in awful patches and I look more like the neighbor's cat that escaped a fire... some patches have some hair, some patches have none at all.

No, no picture this time until it ALL falls out!

So, I got my wish.

My hair is falling out by the handfuls. I mean seriously, at this rate I'll be smooth like a baby's bum by midnight.

It's weird though. Pulling on it and seeing it come out from the root... I'm curious to see how it will look when it's all done falling out.

I guess this weekend marks day 18-20... better late than never.

I am looking forward to not shaving my legs for a few months... bring on summer!

You're beautiful, no matter what the state of your hair. I guess the suspense will be over by morning, huh?

I love your sense of humor, always look for the bright side, you won't have to shave your legs, or armpits.

Hey I didn't think about the leg/armpit thing. At least that's one silver lining in the chemo cloud, right? Are you wearing your wig much? I am deciding about what to get for a head covering. My sister did chemo two years ago, she's sending me hers, but of course I want one that just 'me'. My husband's aunt made me some hats already. There's a white crocheted one with a yellow flower on the side, very 1920's!

Just checking in and sending love.

Sayre - Haha, yes, the suspense is over... little hairs are all over my pillow.

VV - That is the ONE good thing from hair loss, no more shaving.

Tuesday - I wore the wig about 3 times, but I am starting to wear it more often... the more it falls out the more I think I'll wear it. But I don't wear it at home, too much effort. I also have cute hats and a ton of awesome scarves. I always said I'd never wear a scarf cause it screams 'cancer patient'... but guess what? I am a cancer patient, so I guess it's ok.

Andrea - I go on April 6, wednesday at 10:30am... will you come by and say hi one of these days? (I'd love to see you)

Well, as sucky as that is, I think it would be worse to have shaved it and it not fall out. Hooray for not needing to shave your legs. And yay to you for looking on the bright side. One day this will all be behind you (or so I hear!).

The funny thing for me is I have had 3 treatments and I still have some fuzz on my head! I am still waiting to go completely bald, so you may stay fuzzy for a bit. :)

It was awesome when I lost my hair. Loved pulling it out. Such a strange feeling. But, it's super messy so shaving it is best.

Can't say I looked like Miss America when bald but I got really good at tying scarves. Now that I am one year post chemo, I can't bring myself to put one on now.

Mine started to grow back before I was even done with chemo. It was fantastic not having to shave my legs. I wish I could keep the chemo in the lower half. :)

So .... yay???! Not sure, but do agree that it would have been worse to shave your head and not have it fall out.

Have fun with the wig, scarves, and cute hats :-)

haha you're amazing ! You've got an amazing spirit. In your shoes, I think I'd freak out seeing my hair fall out like that. Already after giving birth I was freaking out at the amount of hair I was shedding! I guess I'd sooner go to the hairdresser to shave it off in one go. How long will it take before it starts growing back?

The readiness is all -- Shakespeare said it, and you're proving it to be true! No shocks, no surprises. It must be nice to finally feel like you have a modicum of control over things. x

Hi,
When I lost my hair, I thought I'd scream if one more person said to me, "it's only hair, it'll grow back." I didn't shave mine off til chemo ended. I guess I was a bit of a rebel...Funny, I just posted about hair today too. I love your sense of humor. And, oh, not shaving the legs and underarms, was nice.

I am glad and sorry you got your wish. (((HUGS))) I am glad that it is finally happening, so you are no longer troubled by the anticipation. I am sorry that it is not happening the way you imagined or hoped it would. I respect you not wanting to share pictures at this time and again am so sorry you have to deal with stuff like this, in addition to everything else. Hang in there!

Take care,
Kathy

P.S. I never thought about you losing hair in places other than your head, but that totally makes sense... So I guess the not having to shave your legs for awhile is a little silver lining in all of this.

You have my empathy regarding hair loss. I'm sorry you have to have this stinkin' disease and go through this treatment.

Hang in there....

I am sure you have some fun wigs to wear. You get to be a different version of yourself with each wig. And just think - no more Brazilian waxing woo hoo!

Just thinking of you.

I am sorry you are having such a rough time with this but lets look on the brite side.. i miss you and so does everyone else. I am glad you are back to posting.

It probably won't all fall out. If you don't shave it, the patches will stay. I shaved it down to 1/4 inch and let it be but during chemo 80% of it fell out and the rest looked like Cat Lady on the Simpsons.

If you want a shiny pate, break out the shaver.
