Still here

It took a bit longer this time, I've been busy with all sorts of things... Bone scan was last week, what a nerve racking time that was ... but the results are in and my bones look normal! NORMAL. How's that for a word on my test results?! Pretty cool right? Brad and I are overjoyed. My abdominal ultrasound also showed nothing unusual, so it hasn't spread to the bones or any organ, so it's officially 'contained' to the breast ... and that one is gone, so I am breathing easy.

Or was, until I realized spring had sprung and my eyes are in full allergy mode. And I don't have those 'normal' allergies that I can alleviate on my own with over the counter drops and pills, no, I have to go to the eye doctor and get cortisone shots in my eye and go on Prednezone eye drops for a while just to manage my symptoms. So this week, I take 4 eye drops per day in each eye, and 2 steroids for chemo morning and night, and 2 anti nausea pills morning and night - but not at the same time mind you - then the neulasta shot is today at 1:30pm exactly and then I have some other pills with dinner and not to forget my sleeping pills that come at a certain time. I swear my brain is full with mush now. I stare blankly at all my pills/drops and I just get a headache. For which I won't take another pill, because frankly I'm pilled out. Ugh.

Other than that, we had a lovely Easter.

But even better, we've planned a trip. Brad and I are taking the kids to Maui when this whole cancer business is over. Next spring. It gives us some time to plan it and something for all of us to look forward to. And, (don't tell anyone, it's just between us and the world wide readers) we are thinking of tying the knot there. On the beach. Now how cool would that be? And when I say, 'we're thinking' of it, I mean, 'it's all booked and paid for' so that's what we'll be doing :)

Don't get jealous that you're not coming, we'll take lots of pictures...although, I wonder if I'll have any hair by then? Hmmmm...if not, it's wedding a la Sinead O'Connor.

The sandy beach will be the real stunner.

For the rest of my life, whenever I think of Hawaii I will think of Iz's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1bFr2SWP1I

Oh, you'll be stunning - with hair or without. Women in love are, no matter what.

I'm so glad you have a plan. Wish I could see it in person, but I will be thrilled to have pictures and be there vicariously.

Boy, I hear you on the pills. My doctor had me on tons of them - BP, BCP, cholesterol, niacin, diabetes, and LOTS of different vitamins. I just pilled out. Stopped taking everything except BCP and BP (because BP has a rebound effect). Just for a while. I'm ready to start with the calcium and Vitamin D and fishoil again. Need to get my bones as strong as possible before menopause actually happens. I'm in the run-up to it now (damned hot flashes) so I know my time is limited for getting that done. Have already had osteopenia, so that's extra important. I'll do pills for that....

VV - thanks for the link :)

Sayre - maybe we'll do menopause together? Wouldn't that be grand? But mine will begin on Sept 14th, exactly 24 hours after they remove my ovaries. Will you be ready by then? What? NO??! Pffffftttt....

Red - I don't think I remember seeing your shoes here before, welcome :)

I am happy to hear you have such great plans in your future.. I hate taking pills so I more than likely would have given up by now taking them.. You are sucha trooper.. Keep up the good things in life.

Yes, I have my bathroom counter pharmacy going right now too, but thankfully I am not very prone to spring allergies. My youngest son does get them, however, and he has to take Claritin, prescription eye drops and Nasonex so I feel for you. I think Maui sounds spectacular. I LOVE it in Hawaii, and am thinking about going there myself when my treatment ends as well. I may have to post some photos of Hawaii to get myself motivated for the next 9 chemo cycles...hmm.

Ooo...Maui *swoon*

Hubs and I almost eloped there in November 2007 before our June 2008 wedding. Had it all planned out and booked. But then I started to want things that would be more appropriate if other guests were there...haha...

And we LOVE Iz's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1bFr2SWP1I

In fact, it was the song we danced our first wedded dance to <3

Allergies, that is WILD that you need eye shots. Owowow...

Hey Michelle! You should definately have hair by March! My last chemo was November and if you look back in my blog, in February - post for Day 269, I had hair. That was my first unveiling lol. And that was only 3 months after treatment. I'm now 5 months out and by the time you go to Hawaii, you'll be 8 months out or so, so you should be totally fine!

I'm so happy you two decided to just go and get married! You deserve some "you" time and your vows will mean just so much more now.

Lots of love!!

Melissa

Best news yet! Love the idea of a beach wedding. You deserve it, and so does Brad for being your rock. So happy about the bone scan, too. Thanks for making my day with all this good news! :)

Tweets- I wish I could give them up, but I can't... I can't get through the chemo side effects without the pills :(

Tuesday - Yah, any drugs we want to get our hands at this point, I'm pretty sure they're all at our disposal, aren't they? Hahah... but yes, Hawaii ... you should definitely look at going back there after you're done treatments too. I find it gives me a new 'focus' and a 'light at the end of the tunnel' - hope you're doing better with your chemo side effects today :)

HamiHarri - I remember your wedding planning so well, you were very meticulous about it all, lol. I'm sure it was nice to have it at home with all your family and loved ones, but yes, Maui - that will be nice for us. It will make a wonderful family memory and I can't wait.

Melissa - Yea, thanks for the reassurance about the hair, it's funny what silly things to worry about, but I was a bit aprehensive. I should have a hair do a la Emma Watson by then I figure, which is fine. She's cute and spunky :) Lol.

No kidding about the vows, we're going through the 'sickness' part right now, so I have no doubt we are going to have a very teary vow recital when the time comes...

Sami - thank you so much. (BTW - I read your blog ALL the time, I just wanted you to know, it's just weird that I cannot leave a comment unless I'm on my phone, but I wanted you to know that I do - I love your writing) ... and I'm always teary eyed when I finish one of your posts...

Kristi - Thanks, looking so forward to it :)

Pink - I'm so happy about the bone scan too! What a relief.

Nancy - I know, "NORMAL" - who knew I'd be so excited about that word? LOL. Thank GOD!!

I know you need them.. I just found out a lady that works the day shift at the place I work has bone cancer. she is in her 70's but loves to work and doesnt want to retire yet. she is weak but continues to work anyway.. She just had her second round of Chemo herself and is sore and such. I watched her this morning for a few minutes before I left at 6AM and was thinking about you. I know its different kind of Cancer but its still Cancer. Hope you feel better soon and keep on plugging away.. I want to say it will get easier but I have no way of knowing that my friend. none whats so ever.. but keep looking forward to those beautiful plans you have set up for next spring.
